Bali 2019

We carry the memory of our lives in our bodies, in quite a particular and wordless way. Each moment is fresh, but underpinned by many stories and accumulations, and yes we carry our ancestors too. Our Yoga practice is our story, it is the story of us but in a format that says yes this is true, yes I feel that, yes I have this injury, yes I have these mental tendencies, but Now.

NOW does not mean (only) what is next, but more how are facing this now as each now is a fruit of our inner choices, of our disposition.

Our story fits into the intercession of a moment when we decide. We are not always pleasing to ourselves or anyone else but when we find the stride of simply taking steps and remaining with our practice and ourselves the disturbances we encounter on our road of self-discovery are not life threatening.

We can taste a freedom as our mind gets stronger, we do not get so hooked into protecting or defending ourselves. We can dust the dirt from our shoes and walk on, or simply let the other talk.

Walking on a path teaches us this. The path is a bigger story than ours, it may feel like a series of random experiences that just happen and you respond but as you listen to your heart your footsteps are guided, and with reflection notice that there is a story you are living.

‘Tapas,’ is the discipline, a heating of your being as you are pressed against yourself, your fears, likes, ambiguities. She will ask you to open your hand, and let go, and then go again. Our responses are the weft and waft of our day, of our life.

For many this Bali retreat is an ongoing adventure. One that sings a different song each year, always the Now is changing. A piece of limitless time that descends into another piece of limited time.

Each day there is a sitting/meditation practice, followed by a light fruit break and then a two hour asana class, followed by brunch at 11am. The afternoons start at 4.30 with asana and pranayama and conclude at 6.30 for supper.

Requirements for attendance:  At least two years Iyengar yoga practice.

If you are interested please fill in the application form and forward to the office as soon as you can.

The retreat is held at Santra Putra in Pennestanan. This family compound offers accommodation. Most people like to stay in this compound. If you would like to attend and stay in the compound please fill out your registration and pay your deposit.
